Hey there! I know its been a few weeks, but don’t worry I haven’t forgotten about you. Its been awhile since I posted about one of my great loves-food-so I thought my trip to Roscoe Village’s annual Burger Fest would be a perfect post for today!
If you’ve ever visited Chicago in the summer, I’m sure you’ve seen at least one of the hundreds of festivals going on every weekend in this fair city. From street festivals to music festivals, you’ve got Ribfest, Old Town Art Fair, Chicago Pizza Fest, World’s Largest Block Party at Old St. Pat’s, Taste of Randolph Street, Irish American Heritage Fest, Sheffield Garden Walk, Market Days, Retro on Roscoe, Oyster Fest, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, Do Division, the Air & Water show….the list goes on…and on…and on. There’s basically something for everyone, every weekend…there’s never “nothing to do” in Chicago in the summer!
This weekend was Roscoe Village’s Burger Fest, which, as I’m sure you guessed, featured BURGERS! From Bison to Black Bean, they had a pretty good assortment that was sure to please everyone. Of course, some were better than others-but that’s why you vote, so at the end of the weekend someone gets to take home the crown for “Best Burger” at Burger Fest 2012…that equals 1 year + of bragging rights, my friends. If you love burgers (how could you not?!) and can deal with the intense smoke and heat from all the grills and the dreaded double stroller making its way through the crowds of people, then I would definitely suggest giving Burger Fest a try! This year it was a $6 donation and almost all of the vendors only took cash, so hit up the ATM before heading over.
Lots of smoke…lots of meat…
The band Rego
Rebecca on the tambourine
After watching Rego, it was time to get our burger on….
The Truffle Mushroom Slider from Rockit
Newbie Butcher & The Burger had a spot at Burger Fest this year…and from a friend’s reaction to their burger, I think they just may take home the gold…
The Bloody Mary Burger from Jury’s
You can’t have a Chicago street festival without roasted sweet corn!
Yes, that is a tub of melted butter for the sweet corn…sweet, creamy, delicious butter!
The Cortland St. Burger
And of course….no Burger Fest would be complete without a visit to Four Trey’s…our favorite dog-friendly neighborhood dive (complete with carpet and a seated Ms. Pac Man game!) 🙂
