Good Morning! It’s currently 5:30am here on the beautiful island of Kaua’i and I’ve been wide awake for a little over an hour-my Chicago clock is still in charge! But, I don’t really mind because I’m sitting here with our giant windows open in our room, listening to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore, and it couldn’t be more peaceful. However, I think all the roosters around here are starting to wake up because we’re hearing several cock-a-doodle-dos!
Our journey to Kauai started at 7:10am yesterday with a 3 hour and 53 minute flight to Phoenix, along with my mom and brother. From there we took our 6 hour and 42 minute flight to the island of Kauai. Definitely a long day of traveling, but all worth it in the end!
We arrived at the airport in Lihue which is on the south east side of the island and had a car service bring us to our final destination of the The St. Regis Princeville Resort, on the north side of the island. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by several staff members who presented us with beautiful leis and service that you don’t find in many places.
From the airport and on our drive up, we got a brief glimpse of Kauai’s beauty, but nothing compared to the ridiculously amazing views we saw when we entered our rooms and looked out the giant windows.
It’s a view that leaves you speechless.
We did the usual “just arrived” things-unpacking, oohing and aahing at all the cool little things in our rooms, checking out the hotel, and settled in for a drink on one of their bars overlooking the ocean.
After a quick drink we realized that we were all famished, 5:30pm=10:30pm in Chicago, so we headed to the well-acclaimed Kauai Grill just downstairs for a fantastic first meal in Kauai-complete with a front row view of the beautiful sunset.
After this delicious meal we took a quick walk down by the beach, had 1 more night cap at the pool bar, and called it an early night. Hope you enjoyed the scenery and food porn-more to come!
