Beauty + Burgers
This past weekend I met up with Laurie from 312 Beauty for a fantastic evening of Beauty and Burgers! Arch Apothecary recently opened a boutique on Well St. in Old Town so this was the PERFECT spot for two beauty obsessed bloggers to start their night!
This second Arch Apothecary location (the first is in Rockford), complete with reclaimed wood floors and pretty, sparkly chandeliers, boasts an impressive line-up of high-end cosmetic brands including Kevyn Aucoin, By Terry, Deborah Lippmann, Ellis Faas, theBalm, and Le Metier de Beaute.
They also offer some great services like brow shaping and tinting, lash application, 30-minute customized facials, and professional make-up application. I plumped for a gorgeous Kevyn Aucoin lipstick in Roserin and Clark’s Botanicals Lip Tint in Alexandra Rose-I’ve been wearing both ever since and have gotten loads of compliments! If you’re looking for a fun gift for a friend or a fun treat for yourself, I would highly recommend checking out Arch Apothecary!
After we got our fill of beauty, we headed over to Burger Bar on Clybourn to indulge in another vice…big, juicy, oh-so-naughty BURGERS!
We started with a couple frosty mugs of Oktoberfest and Southern Tier Pumking and our “healthy” course-fried green beans! These were delicious, especially when smothered in the creamy wasabi ginger aioli that came on the side!
For the main event I ordered their Hey Shortay burger-Braised Short Ribs on top of a tasty hamburger patty with caramelized onion-fennel slaw, garlic aioli, and pepperjack cheese as recommended by our server.
This beast of a burger was No Joke! We did our best, but we both took home treats for the next day 🙂 As tempted as we were by the crazy awesome shake flavors (Salted Caramel! Banana Nutella!), we called it good and rolled ourselves out of there-finishing our beers first of course! It was a fantastic day of Beauty & Burgers and I can’t wait to do it again…the only question is, how do we top our first outing?!
