A little over a year ago I gushed about my love for Au Cheval‘s brunch here on the blog. Since then I’ve returned several times, but it’s usually for an after-hours “snack” like their single (which is actually a double) cheeseburger. Lucky for you I had my camera in tow on my most recent visit so you get a peek at Au Cheval in all its late night glory!
We ordered a bottle of wine because we needed the perfect drink to accompany our Foie Gras, Scrambled Eggs & Toast…because who doesn’t drink wine with their foie gras and scrambled eggs?! This was my first time trying this dish and it definitely won’t be my last because it was amazing-definitely not your typical foie gras preparation. Then, of course, I had the single cheeseburger topped with bacon along with a shared side of fries with garlic aioli. This burger is one delicious monster and I’m pretty sure it wins for best burger in Chicago. We finished off the meal with the sweet-but-not-too-sweet Mille-Feuille, another win for the night. Now…imagine yourself enjoying this meal with a little old school rap bumpin’ in the background…feels good to be a gangsta, doesn’t it?
