Seattle’s Space Needle & Chihuly Garden and Glass
We only had one full day in Seattle, so we weren’t stopping at Pike Place Market! After our tour with Savor Seattle we walked on over to Seattle’s most familiar landmark, the Space Needle. It was a bit of a rainy, cloudy day – not exactly the best for views from the observation deck, but we made our way up and were surprised that we could actually see quite a bit from the top!
We made our way around the observation deck, posed for a few photo ops, then headed back down – the wind made it pretty chilly up there! I purchased tickets online ahead of time and that saved us an extra line when we arrived, definitely recommend doing that if you’re able to plan ahead! I purchased a joint ticket for the Space Needle and the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibition (saves money and time), so our next stop was Chihuly. You know all those bright, colorful glass flowers on the ceiling of the Bellagio in Las Vegas? That’s Chihuly! I wouldn’t consider myself a huge art person but I LOVED the Chihuly exhibition! His glass creations are so beautiful and super impressive – I think I probably took a picture of nearly every single piece, but I’ll only share a few of my favs!
There were outside and inside portions of the Chihuly exhibition, both areas full of Chihuly’s beautiful pieces. Your ticket is good for the entire day and when you enter they stamp your hand in case you want to return. At night the pieces outside are all lit up and if we didn’t have dinner plans I would have loved to return – the pictures I’ve seen of the nighttime lighting give the glass a whole new look that’s pretty awesome! We walked through all the exhibits in about an hour or so before making our way back to our hotel to get ready for happy hour and dinner…have no fear, more Seattle food posts are on the way!
